Sorin has announced that, after signing a supply agreement with Boston Scientific, it will manufacture components of the Lotus transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) device at its site in Vancouver, Canada.

A press release reported that under the terms of the supply agreement, Sorin Group will perform certain manufacturing steps related to the tissue valve of the Lotus.

Michel Darnaud, president of Sorin Group, Cardiac Surgery Business Unit, said: “This agreement recognises the strong valve manufacturing experience that Sorin Group has accumulated across its European and North American operations, building on more than 40 years of innovation, development, clinical validation and commercialisation in the field of mechanical and tissue prosthetic heart valves.”

The Lotus is an investigational device worldwide, limited by applicable law to investigational use and not available for sale.
