A new App—“Valve in Valve”–for smartphone and tablet devices has been launched. GSTFT/KCL Biomedical Research Centre funded the development of the App.

Vinayak Bapat, consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust,  has developed training material and ideas, which have been published and presented in international meetings relating to “valve-in-valve” therapy using transcatheter valves. This treatment is gaining popularity as it is less complex and less invasive in select patients. The two key points which determine success of valve in valve is choosing correct size of transcatheter valve and securing it in the optimal place.

The reference marial for fluoroscopic guidance, sizing and optimal placement is for various valve-in-valve combinations is now available as a smartphone/tablet App for healthcare professionals. To download the App to your iPhone, iPad or other android device search for “Valve in Valve” in the App store. The android App will be available within four weeks. For those who do not have access to either, the same content can be viewed on www.ubqo.com/viv.
