Toshiba Medical has announced that it has become the first medical equipment provider to offer a mobile CT scanner service in the UK. The state-of-the-art Aquilion CXL scanner, a high-end, low dose and fast reconstruction CT scanner was launched at the start of December. Complete with a set of post-processing options, including cardiovascular applications, the scanner arrives at hospitals “ready-to-go”.

According to a press release, Toshiba will also offer applications training as part of the service as it travels the UK. The press release reports that the trailer-mounted Aquilion CXL will allow clinicians a flexible solution to optimise workflow, and reduce patient waiting times. It adds that an interim solution for scanning centres undertaking a technology upgrade, the mobile scanner will ensure comprehensive and near 100% uptime.

Mark Hitchman, UK Managing Director for Toshiba Medical Systems, says: “We are proud to be the first medical equipment manufacturer to offer a mobile CT scanning service. We are highly motivated by progress like this and look forward to seeing the positive impact this service has for our healthcare partners, and for the wider patient population as we continue to strive to offer the technology that ensures better and faster patient journeys.“
