Results of the FAME (Fractional flow reserve vs. angiography for multivessel evaluation) trial, a randomised study of 1,005 patients undergoing drug eluting stenting (DES) for multi-vessel disease in 20 US and European centres, showed that routine measurements of fractional flow reserve (FFR) during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with DES compared to current angiographic approach reduces rate of composite endpoint of death.
