Merit Medical, as part of its ThinkRadial programme, now offers, according to a press release, a new one-of-a-kind vascular training model at events throughout the world. The press release reports that the model is an example of the company’s commitment to provide in-demand, extensive radial training to further the advancement of physicians and their fields of medicine.

The custom-designed ThinkRadial vascular training model aims to give cardiologists and interventional radiologists the opportunity to introduce guide wires, diagnostic catheters, guide catheters and interventional devices into the vascular system from several access points—left and right radial, left and right ulnar, as well as femoral.

It is also designed to provide realistic simulation to several procedurally critical vascular destinations, while allowing the practitioner to “see” the way radial products perform inside the body. The press release claims: “If a picture is worth a thousand words, then this kind of interface is worth a thousand pictures. This model provides physicians with an opportunity to have hands-on radial practice and test various radial devices.”

The ThinkRadial Vascular Training Model is one of several training tools included in the simulations module of the ThinkRadial Training Course—an immersive two-day experience with hands-on cadaver training, didactic presentations and live taped cases proctored by interventional cardiologist Sandeep Nathan (University of Chicago, Chicago, USA) and interventional radiologist Darren Klass (General and UBC Hospitals in Vancouver, Canada).
