BIBA Medical launches international TAVI monitor

BIBA Medical has announced that it has launched an international transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) monitor, which is an extension of the company’s current TAVI monitor.  The new monitor will collect quarterly submissions from 140 centres across the United States and Canada, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. This will extend the reach of BIBA’s 200 plus Western European TAVI centres to a global level.

A large dataset from the TAVI monitor was published in the Journal of American College of Cardiology in June 2013 as supporting material for a paper investigating the different rates of TAVI adoption across Western Europe (see Cardiovascular Newsreport on the study)

The monitor will report the volume of transcatheter heart valve procedures, the access route mix, the estimates of competitor sales, and the average price of the TAVI prostheses based on same-centre participation. It will be updated quarterly, 20 days after quarter close.

“We are very proud to launch the international TAVI monitor as it represents a further milestone in the understanding of the TAVI usage dynamics worldwide”, said Roger Greenhalgh, chairman of the CX Symposium and BIBA Medical chief.

The international TAVI monitor is produced as a standalone Microsoft Excel 2013 product, as well as a cloud-based SQL database platform. Annual or quarterly subscriptions are available for the monitor.

BIBA Medical’s line of cardiovascular monitor products also includes structural heart valves, ventricular assist device systems, and Coronary stenting. A separate line of vascular monitor services associated with the CX Symposium, which is Europe’s leading vascular meeting, is also available.
