Ajay Kirtane (Columbia University Irving Medical Center New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, USA) unpacks the latest data from the RADIANCE II clinical trial, assessing the efficacy of ultrasound renal denervation using the Paradise (Recor Medical) system to reduce blood pressure.

Presented by Kirtane at the 2022 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics meeting (TCT, 16–19 September, Boston, USA), the findings of RADIANCE II “confirm that ultrasound renal denervation lowers blood pressure across the spectrum of hypertension”.

Kirtane discusses the renewed interest in renal denervation as a treatment for lowering blood pressure, and important future questions for the field.
