Details of early studies using a dual-frequency intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging system were shared at TCT 2024 (27–30 October, Washington, DC, USA).

Crystal Binary Pulsar (Shenzhen Vista-Vision MedTech) is a dual-frequency IVUS system that provides two registered IVUS images at 60MHz and 90MHz using a single, standard 2.8Fr imaging catheter. According to Shenzhen Vista-Vision MedTech, the system delivers imaging resolution to characterise fine structures typically seen with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and offers molecular and physiological characterisation of lesions.

Teng Ma (Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen, China) detailed use of the IVUS system for the assessment of plaque vulnerability through lipid and fibrous cap characterisation at TCT 2024, as well as detailing first-in-human and early feasibility studies with the device.

“IVUS, OCT, NIRS [near-infrared spectroscopy], and FFR [fractional flow reserve] are the four intravascular modalities cleared for use in the USA. Each offers unique advantages. We offer an all-in-one solution that synthesises the key benefits of all four modalities into a single device, providing clinicians a powerful tool for comprehensive intravascular characterization—without the pain to compromise or juggle between modalities,” said Ma.

“Ultrasound is technically easier to use without the need for blood clearance. We anticipate that our technology is not only a superior alternative to today’s existing solutions but also to deliver a unique clinical impact for patients, particularly those with unprotected left main lesions, vessel dissections, chronic renal insufficiency, or total occlusions—high-risk areas where high-resolution imaging provided by OCT guidance is currently lacking.”

Vista-Vision MedTech is actively seeking strategic partnerships with clinical institutions, healthcare providers, and industry experts to accelerate the development of technologies, streamline regulatory processes, and implement effective market strategies. Interested parties are encouraged to contact us to explore collaboration opportunities.

Sinan Li, president of North America, Shenzhen Vista-Vision MedTech, said: “Focusing on patient-centric approaches, we are committed to providing patients and healthcare providers with timely access to our technologies in the USA, where we see a strategic embrace of advanced medical technologies and a supportive healthcare infrastructure.”
