Corindus Vascular Robotics is to host a breakfast symposium entitled “Robotic Therapy—current Applications & Future Vision” on 31 October at 7.00am at the 2016 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics  meeting (TCT; 29 October–2 November, Washington, DC, USA). Chaired by Martin B Leon (Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, New York, USA), the symposium will review the available data for robotic therapy in the cath lab and other related topics.

Leon will give the talk “Robotic Therapy: Past, Present & Future”, Gregory A Helmer (University of Minnesota & Fairview Hospitals, Edina, USA) will review “Building a Successful Vascular Robotic Program”, Ryan D Madder will give a presentation entitled “Evidence for Robotic Therapy: From Cath Lab Wellness to Patient Benefits”, and Ehtisham Mahmud (.UC San Diego School of Medicine,La Jolla, USA) will discuss  “Complex Robotic Intervention”. An audience discussion and Q&A session will follow the presentations.

Leon comments: “I am excited to present the vision of where robotic therapy fits in the future of the cath lab. Robotics may become very important to protect practitioners and to reduce variability and improve clinical outcomes.”

Corindus’ CorPath system is the first and only FDA-cleared medical device to bring robotic precision to both percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and peripheral vascular intervention procedures while protecting medical professionals from radiation exposure occurring in hospital cath labs. A press release reports that by bringing robotic precision to complex, radial, coronary and peripheral procedures, the CorPath System helps optimise clinical outcomes and minimize costs associated with manual procedures.
