Tim Henry (Cincinnati, USA) talks to Cardiovascular News about the initial findings from the North American COVID-19 ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NACMI) registry which has looked at confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients from sites across the USA and Canada presetning with STEMI or new left bundle branch block (LBBB).
The registry, a collaboration between the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and Canadian Association of Interventional Cardiology (CAIC), as well as the American College of Cardiology (ACC), has brought to light new insights around the rates of mortality and stroke among COVID-19 positive patients, as well as alarming trends around the propensity for ST-Elevation among Black, Hispanic and Diabetic patients, all of which are touched upon in the interview.
Interested sites can designate a local principal investigator and contact SCAI principal investigator Tim Henry ([email protected]) to enlist in the research.
