First-in-human implant of Triflo heart valve completed

Novostia has announced the successful first-in-human implantation of its Triflo aortic valve.

The procedure, performed as part of the PILATUS, single-arm, exploratory clinical study of the device, which is assessing the preliminary safety and efficacy of the valve.

According to Novostia, the device is intended to minimise the risks associated with prolonged anticoagulation, as well as addressing patient concerns including noise-induced discomfort and enhancing quality of life.

Kęstutis Ručinskas (Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, Vilnius, Lithuania) who led the clinical investigation and implantation procedure, said: “The successful implantation of the Triflo heart valve is a significant step forward in aortic valve disease management. Seeing our patients recover fully and thrive post-surgery reinforces the valve’s potential to change the landscape of aortic valve treatment.”
