Robotic-assisted percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has the potential to offer a raft of benefits for cath lab teams, most notably reduced radiation exposure meaning less need to wear heavy protective lead during procedures.
This is according to Eric Durand (Rouen, France) who discussed the evolution of robotic technologies, as well as findings from the R-EVOLUTION study, which he presented at EuroPCR 2022 (17–20 May, Paris, France).
R-EVOLUTION investigated use of the R-One (Robocath) robotic system among 62 patients across six European centres.
