“This technique is here to stay,” says Raban Jeger (Basel, Switzerland) reflecting on the growing interest in drug-coated balloons (DCBs) as a tool for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Jeger is a course director for DCB Days (8–9 October, Berlin, Germany), an advanced training course hosted by B Braun at the Aesculap Academy, that saw experts in DCB-PCI sharing the latest data, insights and experience underpinning the new momentum building behind DCBs as an alternative or complementary strategy to drug-eluting stents in treating coronary artery disease (CAD).
In this video, Jeger and his fellow DCB Days faculty member Robert Byrne (Dublin, Ireland) discuss the appeal of leaving nothing behind in the coronary vessels, key concepts that interventional cardiologists need to understand when considering this approach, as well as learning points from the two-day event. DCB Days attendees Katharina Noeres (Berlin, Germany), Jeremias Bayón (Lugo, Spain) and Leos Pleva (Ostrava, Czechia) also reflect on the important event takeaways they will bring to their practice.
