At this year’s EuroPCR course (14–17 May, Paris, France), Shifamed president and chief executive officer Amr Salahieh sat down with Cardiovascular News to discuss how his journey through the medtech industry ultimately led to him founding Shifamed —a highly specialised innovation hub— back in 2008.
Salahieh outlines the “ecosystem” that Shifamed is able to create for medtech startups, allowing them to navigate the “sometimes long and tortuous pathways” smaller companies face in their efforts to bring new technologies to market. In addition, he comments on the competitive nature of the medtech industry, and offers his views on the future of this space, stating: “We’re going to see a lot of interesting things that couldn’t be done before.”
